International Nurses Day was celebrated around the world on 12th May 2018, providing an opportunity to reflect on the contribution nurses make to health services in Australia and their ongoing advocacy to improve care for all.
This year The District Nurses celebrated by holding a big breakfast for all their nurses cooked by the Chief Executive Kim Macgowan.
One of our nurses Barbara Hassel a Registered Nurse from the Kingborough area, unfortunately missed the breakfast due to storm damage.
Barb has been providing care to Tasmanians with The District Nurses for 39 years.
She completed her R.N training in the U.K. On coming to Tasmania she began her career in Nursing at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Hobart in 1964.
Barb is one of The District Nurses Registered Nurses committed to providing care to people of all ages to remain at home and within their community.
